Hi, I'm Sydney!
I'm an artist, mom of three wild little boys, proud Parkville girl, and the founder of The Parkville Needlepoint House. After graduating from the Kansas City Art Institute, I spent nearly a decade designing products and surface patterns, where I discovered my love for needlepoint.
I fell in love with the slow rhythm of stitching, the beauty of handmade craftsmanship, and the way needlepoint brings people together. My hope is that every person who walks through our pink front door leaves feeling inspired to create something beautiful and finds a little community along the way.
Our Story
If you ask us how The Parkville Needlepoint House began, we'd probably tell you it started long before there were canvases on the walls or pink paint on the front porch.
It started with two people who believed that family, community, and creating something with your own hands mattered. After experiencing the unimaginable loss of our best friend, Graham—a Kansas City firefighter who was killed in the line of duty—my husband, Michael, and I found ourselves rethinking the life we wanted to build for our family. We dreamed of creating something meaningful, rooted in creativity, connection, and our hometown. Then we found a little pink house on Main Street. While most people saw an old building that had sat empty for years, we saw a place where people could gather, slow down, and create something beautiful together.
With the help of our family, friends, neighbors, and our three little boys, we brought the little pink house back to life, transforming it into the welcoming space it is today. The Parkville Needlepoint House is a true family business, built between school pickups, bedtime routines, coffee-fueled mornings, and a whole lot of teamwork—with Michael always ready to lend a hand and our boys proudly "helping" around the shop. Today, the little pink house is so much more than a needlepoint shop. It's a place to gather, celebrate creativity, and build community one stitch at a time. Every person who walks through our front door becomes part of our story, and we hope that when you visit, you feel like you've been welcomed into our home.
